The idea
Ireland has been waiting to write to you.
There are 32 million Americans with Irish ancestry. Most of them have a grandmother's story, a county name, a surname that points somewhere across the Atlantic. But Ireland has never written back.
Until now. Each month, I sit down in a different corner of Ireland and write you a letter. About the place your family came from. About what Ireland looks and sounds and smells like today.
"I wanted to reach through the screen and hand you something real. Something with a stamp on it, and an Irish postmark, and my handwriting on the envelope."
It arrives in your American mailbox — posted from Ireland. Just for you. And if you feel like writing back, I'd love to hear from you.
